Hayes’ story was written while finishing up my first draft of Mallory’s story.  Hayes is a character that hounds me.  All. The. Time.  He REALLY wants his story to be told.  I itch to work on his book every day, so now I’m splitting my time between him and Mallory.  His story used to be an adult novel, but I’ve realized he is better as a young adult book.  So now I’m in the second draft while switching it to the young adult genre.

What should I tell you about Hayes?  Hm…

Hayes is trapped in a town where everyone hates him.  They’ve hated him since that one particular incident when he was a young boy.  They never forgave him.  Because of that, Hayes is bitter guy with a dark sense of humor.

Hayes has to come face to face with one of his worst fears, just as the opportunity to leave presents itself.

That’s not even the beginning of all his secrets.  But could he really have more secrets than the others?  They have quite a list going for themselves.

I couldn’t imagine how a dead man in a casket would make people hungry, but whatever.
